Gearing up for the launch of Playground

We’re getting ready to launch a brand new product on Product Hunt very soon, so naturally the team is working tirelessly toward making that day a success.

But before we talk more about Playground, let’s hit rewind and talk about Waldo.

In brief: Our journey with Waldo

In a previous post, I talk about how mobile QA testing was once the bane of my existence. And that’s why we set out to build the solution you now know as Waldo. Why did we do it? Simple: because mobile QA sucks.

We built Waldo because mobile QA is broken. Because it’s a bottleneck. Because it can turn into a personal hell for whoever’s responsible for it. And lastly, because it can be a very, very costly endeavor.

Small and medium sized teams are often working with very limited resources. Because building, designing and running tests often is a miserable and time-consuming experience, it often comes with a pretty juicy price tag (whether outsourced or in-house).

Now, we think that small and lean teams should be able to test the apps they poured their heart and souls into on their own – and they shouldn’t have to spend a fortune doing so. No one should have to lose their sanity over delivering a first class user experience, right?

Waldo makes QA more enjoyable by creating a reliable and scalable way of testing your app without test scripting and without any repetitive tasks.

During our journey with Waldo, needless to say, we’ve learnt a ton. But as of late one thing has stood out: There was a need for a better way for non-technical people to review their mobile app in real-time.

And that’s why we built Playground.

Up next: Introducing Playground

When you talk about mobile QA and testing, it can get very technical very fast. But there are plenty of non-technical stakeholders involved in the process, and they need just the same amount of reassurance and degree of confidence as the technical bunch. In particular, they need to know that all the analytics and event tracking have been set up correctly.

For those people, we built Playground.

Playground is the easiest way to inspect your analytics setup in your mobile app. With Playground, you can make sure that all your event tracking runs smoothly and events are triggered as they should. There’s no installation or technical setup required. All you need to do is drag and drop and your app and it’s ready to play with in the browser.

We’re excited to share Playground with the mobile community, and of course, everyone that’s part of the Product Hunt community.
